Stop the Bleed encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
Who Should Attend:
This class is for anyone interested in learning about life threatening bleeding control techniques. No healthcare, law enforcement, military, or first responder experience needed. The program is designed for everyday people, like you and me! Civilians need basic training in Bleeding Control principles so they are able to provide immediate, frontline aid until first responders are able to take over care of an injured person. Due to many situations, there may be a delay between the time of injury and the time a first responder is on the scene. Without civilian intervention in these circumstances, preventable deaths will occur. This is a lifelong skill that all individuals should learn but hopefully never use.
What to Expect:
Topics Covered:
How to identify “life threatening” bleeding, Bleeding control techniques based on location of injury, How to properly hold pressure and pack a bleeding wound, Trauma kits and care without a kit, and Tourniquet use.
Participants will receive a certificate and a Stop the Bleed starter kit with guide, rolled gauze, and large size disposable gloves with the completion of a short survey.
