Our Board Certified Lactation Consultant will give you valuable information that will help get breastfeeding off to a great start
Whether you have decided to breastfeed or are just considering it, this class will answer your questions and help you get off to the best possible start on your nursing journey. Our goal is to help you gain confidence, troubleshoot if needed, and have a happy, well-fed baby! Topics include breastfeeding basics, proper hold, what to expect immediately after delivery, and beyond. The class is taught by a registered nurse/International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
We are excited to announce we will be gifting each registrant an "Understanding Breastfeeding" book and exclusive web app that works on any type of mobile device or computer. The book and app are a perfect companion to our program! The Injoy app includes engaging videos, 3D animations, helpful web links, downloadable PDFs, and a Parent's Toolbox loaded with interactive tools. It is yours to keep and share with your support team!
Location and Parking:
Classes will be held at St. John Hospital (22101 Moross Road, Detroit, MI 48236) in the basement, classroom D&E. We recommend parking at the back of the hospital and entering through the 'Main Entrance', North side of the hospital. The class will meet in the Birthing Center Lobby located on the 5th floor, South Elevators. Staff at our information desk will help direct you upon entering the hospital. Take the South elevator with sign that reads 'Birthing Center'. Proceed to the waiting room just up the ramp.
The class will meet in the Birthing Center Lobby located just outside the glass doors to the unit. Please do not report to the Birthing Center front desk. One of our Instructors will greet you in the waiting room. A tour of the unit will be provided prior to the start of class. After completion of the tour, our instructor will lead the group to classroom D&E in the basement to begin the class.

Per Hospital Guidelines:As of 04/13/2023, masking is OPTIONAL*You and your support person should practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands and/or using hand sanitizer prior to entering and exiting the classroom.In the event that the community experiences an increase in COVID-19 cases, classes may be changed to virtual.If your class requires payment, a refund will be given if a cancellation request is received 2 business days (48 hours) prior to the start of the class/program.Ascension Providence reserves the right to cancel classes with less than 5 registrants. A full refund will be given for any class canceled by the site.In the event of unforeseen illness or circumstance, you will be given the option to move your registration to a virtual or e-class. An additional in-person option may be available on a case by case basis.*Ascension Michigan will continue to monitor COVID-19 rates in the communities we serve and will adjust our universal masking guidelines as necessary as we work to keep everyone safe.
